Prior to 2005 Mr. Harms was Vice President for Space Systems/Loral Marketing and Sales. He lead campaigns which included Loral’s first direct-to-Europe satellite sale, Spainsat; and the largest commercial broadband satellite in existence, iPSTAR.
Mr. Harms joined SS/L in 1996 from Hughes Aircraft where he worked 17 years as a System Engineering Manager on a variety of commercial and government satellite programs, and was the Operations Manager for Hughes in partnership with British Aerospace to produce Inmarsat-2.
Mr. Harms enjoys the time he spends with his wife Dawn, and his three children Alyson, Geoffrey, and Derek.

James Morris began his career in education thirty-four years ago as a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District and currently serves as the Superintendent of the Fremont Unified School District in Fremont, California. Prior to being appointed Superintendent in Fremont in July 2010, he served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff for 900 schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD)
During his thirty year tenure in LAUSD, he worked as a teacher, a principal, and a variety of other administrative, positions including Assistant Superintendent of instruction, and Superintendent of District 2 supervising over 100 schools with 103,000 students and families in the San Fernando Valley. After serving thirty years in LAUSD, he was selected as the Superintendent of the Fremont Unified School District where he is in his fifth year of service.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).
Patrick Choy has been in the Cyber-Security Industry for 20 years and Information Technology for about 25 years. He graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University in 1997. Patrick started his career as an engineering consultant and then went on to do IT consulting. He is now a Leading Director at Space Systems Loral (SSL), where he manages a team of talented individuals defending customer data, as well as SSL data. He has written articles and participated in open discussions about current critical cyber issues. His past experience includes working at Sybase (before it was bought by SAP) and California State Automobile Association (CSAA) in San Francisco.
Patrick’s passion today is to improve the life of special needs children as he has a special needs child at home. He would also like to invent something that would help children all over the world.
(CIPCF) – which supports the Mandarin Immersion Program at Azevada Elementary School in Fremont. Yung-pei is Outreach Chair for CIPCF. She has also been a Stay-At-Home-Mom for the past three years, ever since the birth of her second son who was born with complex medical issues. Yung-pei has 10 years of teaching experience in 2nd grade, 5th grade and special education, as well as a background in journalism. Prior to joining the teaching profession, she worked as a business writer for The Argus, a local newspaper covering the Fremont, Newark and Union City areas. Before that, Yung-pei worked as a production assistant for two to three news shows for CNNfn. She completed a teaching course through San Jose State University in 2003 and received her B.A. in Journalism at New York University in 1997.
